Although my artwork always has self-imposed problems to be solved that require balancing color, texture, and form, I hope to convey some larger observations or questions that will engage the viewer.  I work in series, experimenting with materials, and concentrating on themes that question my relationship to the natural world and the human condition. When visual images are not enough, I have added words to my work to help convey the meaning of the concepts that I am engaged in.  While the creation of work takes time both in making and in understanding, I expect that the viewer will also need to take time to contemplate, to see the work unfold, and to let the questions open new territory.  Art is a dialogue.
